Winter is still the best season, but if you’re just beginning you might want to watch out for everyone else in the water and practice at a less crowded spot down the beach before heading to the pier. With breaks that go left and right, it’s a popular spot and one that’s great to see familiar faces while out enjoying the water.
Locals love the Poles, and it’s frequented by mid to expert level surfers for a prime low tide break. When the surf is pumping during winter time, it does get crowded, but there is always a beautiful tranquility while surfing here as opposed to Jax Beach Pier since it’s situated in pristine settings at Hanna Park.
For those rookies looking to learn how to surf for the first time, head to lovely Atlantic Beach. Here, the shore is long and the break is solid throughout, so you can ditch the crowds and paddle out at any beach access point to practice.
