4 Northeast Florida Beaches You Can't Miss

It’s all about sun, salt and sand in Northeast, FL. With miles of sprawling coastline, locals live beach life to the fullest, especially in Jacksonville.

A variety of atmospheres exist to enjoy the First Coast, whether you’re looking for tranquility, nature or lively beachfront activity. These are our top 4 beaches you can’t miss.

Amelia Island

Just North up the coast of Jacksonville you’ll find historic Fernandina Beach, home to the beautiful Amelia Island. The island spans 13-miles-long, dotted with Victorian houses from the past. It’s character and charm have been shaped through the years by stories of pirates, soldiers and other wanderers of the sea that washed up and found solace in this tiny seaport town. Get your fill of history, comb the beach at Amelia Island State Park and enjoy the local seafood in Amelia’s quaint downtown area.

Jacksonville Beach

If you’re looking to see and be seen, head over to Jacksonville Beach. This long stretch of coast is a popular spot for water sports, fishing, beach goers and families alike. Just opposite the beach you’ll find plenty of eateries and bars with a view of the ocean. Take a stroll on the pier and watch surfers catching waves down below.

Big Talbot Island State Park

One of Jacksonville’s hidden gems, this State Park is for nature lovers. There’s tons to do, from hiking trails to mountain biking or having a picnic under the shade of the live oaks. Head to the beach and you’ll discover why this park is so unique. Numerous fallen oak trees dot the sand like dinosaur bones as waves lap gently at their salt-worn branches. It’s like an oak graveyard- beautiful for pictures!

Ponte Vedra Beach

South of Jacksonville Beach is the more private coastline of Ponte Vedra. This is where beachgoers enjoy peace and quiet. Instead of condos and restaurants, you’ll find breathtaking mansions lining the shores. Yup, this is where luxury dwells in the Northeast. As you walk along the beach, keep your eyes peeled for sharks teeth! It’s easy to find them washed up in shell beds- a must have for any seashell collection.
