Drinks at the bar

You Need to Grab a Drink at These Bars in Jacksonville Beach

If your idea of an epic day of drinking involves a cold beverage with the sound of the Atlantic Ocean’s waves crashing in the background or a night out under blaring neon lights, look no further than the infamous beach bars of Jacksonville Beach.

Here are our top favorite digs that you can’t miss if you’re feeling thirsty.

Pete’s Bar

Located in Neptune Beach, Pete’s is one of the oldest dive bars in Duval County. If you’re feeling less swanky and more laid-back and whisky-like, head to Pete’s. As soon as you enter you feel the true roots of the beaches. There is a bevy of pool tables, a jukebox and plenty of local characters to get chummy with.

Lemon Bar

Let’s switch things up to sunny skies and views of Atlantic Beach. It’s a fact that when the first tinges of spring are felt in the air, Lemon Bar is on everyone’s minds. It’s as if spring has officially arrived when this outdoor gem opens its doors after a long winter. The protocol is to round up the troops, hop on beach cruisers and prepare for a day in the sun drinking yummy lemon freezes. Tip: get there early if you want a table!

The Beach Bars

I’m just going to cover these babies all in one go, because a proper night out in Jacksonville Beach will include these prime bars, all which have been around for years. Start at Brix for low key drinks to rev up the night, then walk to Ritz to really crank up the flow. This is where the night forks into oblivion. You can either a) stay at Ritz until the 2am last call and then stumble outside to grab a hot dog at the little food stand under the Ritz sign b) if you’re not feeling Ritz, head across the street to The Shim Sham Room to shake hands with the big stuffed bear c) Head over to the one and only: Lynch’s Irish Pub.

Lynch’s Irish Pub

If all else fails, Lynch’s will never disappoint on delivering the feel good vibes. You’ll always see a familiar face here, live music plays weekly and usually there is a $2 beer of the night on draft.
